How often do I need to charge the EZRide if it is not used for a number of months?
If the EZRide is not used on a regular basis and you don’t charge the battery, like a car, it will stop working. When not in use, turn on the EZRide and check the display. Charge the unit of the battery display shows 2 bars or less.
Does insurance cover EZRide?
Most insurance companies will cover the cost of the EZRide+. You must first get pre-authorization from your medical provider. Once that is submitted to your insurance company, and approved, we can ship your unit.
If you reside in Southern California, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, or Maine, you might be eligible for insurance to cover the cost of your EZRide+.
Does EZRide+ have a weight limit?
Yes, the EZRide+ is designed to handle a max weight of 300 lbs, including the weight of the chair. If you have any questions about using our wheelchair power assist to upgrade your existing manual wheelchair, reach out to us and we'll be happy to help!
How far can the EZRide travel on a single charge?
The EZRide+ can travel approx. 12-20 miles on a single charge. This estimate is entirely dependent on factors such as traveling speed, weight, terrain, and incline.
How long does it take to charge the EZRide+?
From 0% battery to fully charged, approx. 7 hours. We recommend charging the EZRide+ after each use or when the battery reaches 30%.
Does the tire need to be filled with air?
No. The EZRide+ tire is a solid-state tire.
Can the handbrake be adjusted for those with limited grip strength?
Yes. The handbrake can be adjusted on the handlebars to enable pressing with a cupped or open hand to stop.
I am completely paralyzed on one side, can all the controls be moved to one side of the handlebars?
Yes. Your EZRide wheelchair conversion kit will arrive with all the tools to move all controls to either side of the handlebars.
I have a foldable wheelchair, can I fold my chair when the EZRide+ is removed?
Yes. Once you remove the EZRide+, simply remove the spring-loaded tow bar and you can fold your chair like normal.
What kind of terrain can the EZRide+ handle?
The EZRide+ can handle any asphalt or concrete surfaces, as well as average length grass or hard packed dirt or gravel. EZRide+ is NOT designed for operation in the sand or at the beach.
Can the headlight be adjusted on the EZRide+?
Yes. The headlight is completely adjustable.
How do you clean the EZRide+?
To clean EZRide+, simply use a damp cloth. Avoid using any harsh chemical cleaners.
Is the EZRide+ waterproof?
The EZRide+ is water-resistant, but cannot be submerged in water. We do not recommend leaving the EZRide+ outside in the rain for long periods of time. However, light rain will not damage the EZRide+. Many parts of the EZRide+ are stainless steel or coated aluminum so they will not rust. However, we recommend wiping it down with a dry cloth if it gets wet.
What kind of payments do you accept?

Can the EZRide handle hills?
Yes, but it is dependent on the hill. The EZRide will move at a slower speed, and is best at no more than a 30-degree incline. We recommend using High speed, and there should be no issues.

What if I want to travel domestically with my EZRide?
If you are traveling domestically with your EZ Ride keep your shipping box. Pack EZ Ride in the box and give us your Destination address 4-5 days before you travel . We will send you a shipping label and have the unit picked up and delivered to your destination for only the shipping fee. Repeat the process when you are coming home.

Your EZRIDE+ (“Product”) is warrantied against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original retail purchase (“Warranty Period”) when used in accordance with Product user manual (refer to the Assembly page on this site). Under this warranty, if a defect arises during the Warranty Period, Shield Innovations LLC , at its option will (1) repair the Product at no charge using new parts or parts that are equivalent to new in performance and reliability, or provide the user with replacement parts. Customers are responsible for freight charges on replacement parts. (2) exchange the Product with a product with equivalent functionality formed from new and/or previously used parts that are equivalent to new in performance and reliability. Customer is responsible for return freight to our warehouse on warranty repair. This warranty excludes normal depletion of consumable parts such as batteries, tires, brakes unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship, and damage resulting from abuse, accident, modifications, unauthorized repairs or other causes that are not defects in materials and workmanship.

As soon as you place your order, you will receive an order confirmation e-mail. This means that we have received your order in our system and pre-authorized your credit card for the purchase. As soon as we receive your order, we automatically reach out to our suppliers to confirm that it is in stock and available for immediate shipment. I am almost 73 years old. Four years ago, I lost my left leg and have been wheelchair-bound ever since. Two years after the amputation, I had to have surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and my arms were not as strong as they once were. We purchased the EZRide+ and it gave me back most of my mobility! I live in a small town and can use the EZRide to travel on the sidewalk anywhere in town. It allows me to do the things I used to do on my own – I can maneuver through large stores like Home Depot or the grocery store and can travel the narrow hallways of my medical clinic with ease. Since one hand is free, I can also use my cell phone. I no longer need someone to push me and I tell anyone interested in my EZRide+ that it is a quick and easy way to regain your independence without having to transfer back and forth to a scooter.

I’ve owned my EZ Ride now for about 3 years and continue to use it every day. I love the ease of connecting it to my wheelchair & heading off in seconds. When traveling by car, it stores easily and takes up little space. Charging my EZ Ride is a simple plug-in to any outlet, anywhere!
I’ve been looking for a way to make getting around in my wheelchair easier. After looking at many units on the internet I found the EZRide+. I watched all the videos and read the reviews, and decided I would pick this one. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. This has made my life so much better. No more asking friends to push me around. I’m happier, and so are my friends. Great product.
I purchased my EZRide+ in March, and I love it. I’ve used it in various festivals, outings, parks, and it’s opened up whole new possibilities for me. It fits on my wheelchair perfectly, and stabilizes my chair over uneven surfaces, and affords me the luxury to relax and enjoy my surroundings without having to focus 100% on the ground surface like I normally did. And the battery life is great. I have yet to drain the battery down even after using it for hours.
I’m still working on getting all of my additions and feedback on my new EZRide+, but I wanted to let you know how things are going so far. I had a friend in town recently. I live in a great community and usually don’t need to go very far, but we wanted to go out and about, starting with the restaurant across the street from me. I live half a block from the beach. It’s beautiful here. In the past, I’ve had to have help going to the restaurant, which sits right on the beach, because of speed bumps, uneven pavement, and steep slopes onto sidewalks. The worst are the crosswalks that aren’t flat so when using the wheelchair manually, I have to work really hard to not veer off the path. And then the time runs out and everyone is waiting for me. So embarrassing! Anyway, the EZRide+ got me to the restaurant nice and easily with no hang ups!
Once there, the couple seated at the table next to us were enthralled by the machine. They watched me detach it and place it next to the table on the kickstand. They told me her father uses a wheelchair and this would be great for him. They took pictures and asked a lot of questions. I demonstrated it for them and told them what a game changer it is for me. This happened at the other two places we went that day. People were telling me how cool it is! No one would ever say that about a regular wheelchair or mobility scooter 🙂
